Expedition 18 Returns Home After Six Months On Space Station

After nearly six months aboard the International, the Expedition 18 crew returned to Earth today, making a picture-perfect landing on the chilly steppes of Kazakhstan. Along with two-time space tourist Charles Syimonyi, outgoing station commander Mike Fincke and Russian flight engineer Yury Lonchakov touched down in their Soyuz TMA-13 spacecraft at 3:16 a.m. EDT
Soyuz Brings New Crew To International Space Station

Russian cosmonaut Yury Lonchakov, along with American astronaut Michael Fincke and spaceflight participant Richard Garriott, arrived at the International Space Station today to become the station's 18th resident crew since Expedition 1 launched in 2000. The Soyuz TMA-13 spcaecraft docked with the Zarya module at 4:26 a.m. EDT to complete a two day orbital rendezvous with the complex.
Aastronauts Blast Off From Russia To Begin Six Month Tour On Space Station

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, KAZAKHSTAN - A Russian Soyuz rocket blasted off from Kazakhstan today carrying the Expedition 18 crew to the International Space Station. Riding with them was multimillionaire video game developer Richard Garriott, the son of former U.S. Skylab astronaut Owen Garriott and who paid Russia upward of $30 million for a weeklong visit to the space station.
The first phase of man's active exploration of the Moon came to an end with the Apollo 17 mission. Commander Eugene Cernan and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt, also a professional geologist, engaged in three moon walks for a total of 22 hours and 2 minutes.
